View from our Backyard
Pinnacle Peak Llamas' summer ranch is located in beautiful
Parks, Arizona. Parks is located at an elevation of about 7400 feet and is approximately midway between Flagstaff
and Williams, conveniently off of Interstate 40.
Due to the hot summer climate of the Phoenix area, we purchased some land in
Parks back in the late 90's. The summer temperatures in Parks are ideal for humans and llamas alike, with the highest
temps rarely reaching the high 80s. The night-time temps drop about 30-40 degrees from the daytime, so the llamas
always get to cool off at night.

The llamas' barn
In 2002, we sold our original Parks ranch and log
home to purchase the back 10-acre piece of the J Diamond Bell Ranch property. We hadn't quite finished that
first house yet, but some very nice people wanted to buy it, and we couldn't resist the excuse to build on our new property
- it was just too beautiful!
Covered in Ponderosa pines, on a hillside overlooking Government Prarie, Kendrick
Mountain and a spectacular view of the San Francisco Peaks, we began building our ranch all over again.
We started with the llamas' barn, of course! First things first.
Then we built the garage, and we have recently moved into our beautiful log home full-time.

Here are some pictures that we have taken of our
home under construction. The log package was built by Frontier Log Homes in Montrose, Colorado, and the construction
of the house was done by BIBS Custom Log Homes in Flagstaff, Arizona. Both of these companies did a super fantastic
job, and we are thrilled with how the house turned out. I will post current pictures this summer.
This photo shows the post outside of the dining room. The burl on this
log is beautiful. There are many, many of these 'character logs' through-out the interior and exterior of the home.

This picture shows the front truss of the house, before
the front windows were cut out. We love this post - to us, it looks like an owl's nest is in the log.
The owner of BIBS, Jim Brenner, found us this beautiful blue pine T&G
(tongue & groove planking) for our ceilings. It matches the wood of the interior and exterior doors. The bluing
of the wood is a result of fermentation in the pine tree.

Parks House - August 2005
This photo shows the house as of August 2005.
The exterior is basically finished, and we spent the past summer working on finishing up the interior. We got our
final inspection and C of O in 2007, and have moved in full-time. Since the summer was spent working on the inside,
next summer will be when I plant my gardens.
